Allison Porter is a registered dietitian with a specialized focus on the intersection of nutrition and behavioral health, particularly in the treatment of eating disorders. She brings extensive experience providing medical nutrition therapy across a range of clinical settings in North Carolina, including Wilmington Treatment Center, JFK ADATC, Carolina Dunes, The Willows at Red Oak, and Healing Together Counseling & Wellness. Allison earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from The University of Texas at Austin, where she also completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics. Between earning her degree and completing her internship, she completed 200 hours of yoga teacher training through Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT). Since then, she has pursued additional formal and informal training in nutrition, yoga, and whole-person wellness.
Most recently, Allison served as the dietitian for Coastal Horizons Center, a nonprofit organization encompassing Wilmington Health Access for Teens (WHAT) and the school wellness centers. In this role, she provided direct nutrition care to students across all four public high schools in Wilmington, supporting adolescent wellness at the community level.
At Chrysalis Center, Allison primarily works with adolescents navigating eating disorders while also supporting clients of all ages facing a variety of concerns, including autoimmune conditions, food allergies, bariatric surgery, autism, and ARFID. Her clinical approach is highly individualized and integrative, blending evidence-based nutrition practices with mindfulness and holistic wellness. Drawing from research in stress physiology, the gut-brain axis, intuitive eating, Health at Every Size®, body awareness, self-compassion, and neuroplasticity, Allison empowers clients with tools to heal their relationship with food and their bodies in a sustainable and compassionate way.
