LAUREN FRANCIS, Psychology Intern

Master’s Level Student Intern

Lauren Francis is a Master’s Level Psychology Intern who is fulfilling her field placement at Chrysalis Center before graduating from Appalachian State University in December. She completed her course work for her degree and is writing her thesis on the influences of fat talk and weight teasing on disordered eating behavior while serving here as our intern.  Lauren worked in the Counseling Center treating students and in the Psychology Clinic at Appalachian State treating members of the community. Lauren graduated with her Bachelor’s of Psychology from UNCW in 2016 where she began researching substance use. While in Boone, she continued research on substance use and its effects on adults.

At Chrysalis Center, Lauren facilitates the S.O.A.R. (Staying Open About Recovery) group for IOP and provides therapy to individual clients. Her clinical interests include body image and eating disorder concerns, depression, anxiety, and substance use. Lauren is supervised by our Executive Director. She has a limited number of spots for clients seeking mental health therapy who cannot afford it.
