Kelly Lehman is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and certified personal fitness trainer with years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups in a variety of settings. She graduated with a BA in psychology from Washington and Jefferson College, and she received her M.Ed. in Counseling from Shippensburg University. Early in her career, she provided therapeutic services to individuals ranging from children to seniors with a diversity of mental health needs in an inpatient psychiatric setting. She realized she had a strong interest in the area of addictions, and she became part of a clinical team for adults coming out of state correctional institutions and in need of intensive drug and alcohol treatment. While serving in this role, Kelly was given the opportunity to fill the Assistant Director position at this facility, and it was here where she developed a greater understanding of the administrative responsibilities involved in mental health and addictions treatment. Later, as a school counselor, Kelly worked closely with young children and their families, as well as school personnel in order to best meet the needs of the students. After being drawn to private practice, Kelly was granted the opportunity to work alongside other clinicians who helped to further her own experience and skillsets. It was in these different settings where she was able to develop her own passions within the field. Among areas of special interest and experience are eating disorders; addictive behavior; military issues to include deployments, readjustments/reintegration, and PTSD; fertility issues; chronic pain and medical trauma; anxiety; obsessive compulsive disorder; grief and loss issues; and marital/couples therapy. Kelly utilizes an eclectic approach to therapy with a focus on CBT, solution focused therapy, family systems therapy, and DBT skills training to name a few. She strongly believes in the value of treating the whole person, as there is a strong connection between physical and mental health. This propelled Kelly to seek her certification in personal training, and she has enjoyed being able to work closely with clients struggling with medical issues, chronic pain, and surgical rehabilitation. After living in Wilmington for 10 years, Kelly relocated to the Tampa Bay area in Florida due to her husband’s military orders. Now that her family has returned to the area for their twilight tour, she is excited to be back “home” here. She is looking forward to returning to Chrysalis Center and being a part of a professional team that truly makes a difference in the lives of the people they serve. Through a holistic approach to health, Kelly is eager is assist her clients with optimizing each and every day.
