Mikayla Alberico is an intern in her final year of UNCW’s Masters of Social Work program. Before attending UNCW, Mikayla received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina.
Mikayla takes a collaborative, holistic, and person-centered approach to therapy. She uses evidence-based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). However, she tailors her approach to each clients specific needs to help facilitate positive change. She has an interest in working with individuals who are 14+ years old and are experiencing eating disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, mood disorders, and trauma. She believes in upholding the dignity and worth of her clients while creating a non-judgmental environment.
