Emily Lockamy is a licensed professional counselor associate who has worked as an individual therapist and support group facilitator in several settings, including a partial hospitalization program and two hospices. Emily has also worked in private practice, helping individuals cope with varied mental health concerns, including eating disorders, depression, and trauma. Emily developed the psychotherapy group called Healing Words, a therapeutic writing group offered at Chrysalis Center to adolescents and adults. Emily’s areas of clinical focus include grief and loss, anxiety, life transitions, and low self-esteem. Emily takes a Person-Centered, integrative approach to counseling, drawing from Grief Processing Models, Mindful Self-Compassion practice, CBT, DBT, and other modalities as indicated. Emily earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She enjoys freelance writing for local magazines and popular websites.
